Outline

 This is a leading program that integrates medicine and engineering. The heavy ion radiotherapy, science and technology course has been already established in Graduate School of Medicine as the Ph.D. program. This course also opens in the Graduate School of Science and Technology from April 2019. This program aims for cultivating worldwide leaders of research and development in medical physics and medical engineering in medical companies.
 Leaders to be cultivated will learn heavy ion medicine/biology basics, the latest heavy ion technology and advanced medical equipment development technology. They will have the necessary skills to become international leaders in the advanced medical equipment development industry or play crucial roles in radiation and heavy ion research centers in Japan and the world. They will also be able to become leaders who can comprehensively operate and develop heavy ion radiation therapy.

 course02: It is Five-year Ph.D. course. Students are required to satisfy not only this program but also the program of Graduate School of Science and Technology. Students  learn human biology basics and scientific moral values from medical philosophy/ethics, along with physiology/anatomy in medical and engineering subjects. Students learn medical physics from heavy ion radiation therapy engineering subjects. Moreover, they take dedicated leading medical engineering subject to learn medical engineering. In addition, they read related latest papers. They plan and carry out the study under the supervisor. They receive a qualifying examination of Master Course (Qualifying Examination of Master Course) at the end of Master course program.
 Programs cultivate skills to execute unique study as well as ability to deeply understand science based knowledge and ability to carry out interdisciplinary study by liking among other fields. Students learn how to plan and carry it out through learning of test methods, experiment data analyzing methods, and writing methods for academic papers. In addition, QE (Qualifying Examination) is executed for a presentation and discussion ability as worldwide leaders of research and development in medical physics and medical engineering in medical companies.
